Holistic Nutrition Elective Courses

The Holistic Nutrition Elective courses were developed by health and nutrition professionals at Hawthorn University. These courses are tightly focused and designed to be completed in sixty (60) days.

Holistic Nutrition courses include a selection of readings from textbooks, web links to online information, and lectures or webinars. Some courses include an online exam or an end-of-course oral conference with the instructor. All courses require written assignments used to evaluate student progress.

Holistic Nutrition Electives Admission

Students interested in taking courses listed in the Holistic Nutrition Elective area will earn three (3) credits per course.

If you are a new applicant for the Holistic Nutrition elective program, please fill out an application. Select “Enroll Now” and create an account.

Choose Holistic Nutrition – Individual Courses from the Program drop-down menu. In the drop-down menu, under Course, choose the course you want. When you submit the application, you will receive an email from Admissions with additional information. No application fee is required.

If you have already created an account and submitted an application for any of Hawthorn’s electives, no new application is required. Simply contact [email protected] and your request will be added to your student portal.

Non-Matriculating Students

Take an individual course from one of Hawthorn’s programs or from the Holistic Nutrition Elective, a non-matriculating student. Admission requirements depend on the level of the course. For example, if you want a Master’s level course must show proof of an earned Bachelor’s degree. If you are interested in taking individual courses in the WTNC and MSTN programs must be members of the Weston A. Price Foundation.

Should a non-matriculating student decide to enroll in a program at a later date, a new program application must be submitted along with additional required documentation, a $60 application fee (non-refundable) will be charged.

Holistic Nutrition Cancellation & Refund

Students seeking withdrawal must notify the University of their desire to withdraw. An online withdrawal request from the student portal is preferred, although a request can be in any form, written or verbal. Refunds, if applicable and requested, will be made by the Bursar’s office as outlined below within 30 days. The withdrawal becomes official when the student receives final written notification from the University.

Any student who cancels enrollment in a course within seven (7) days of acceptance of the Enrollment Agreement or payment for the course is entitled a full refund. Students who cancel or withdraw after the seven days are entitled to a refund based on their progress in the course. Percentage completion is calculated as the number of days enrolled in a course divided by the number of days allowed to complete the course not including extensions. Example: A student enrolled for 20 days in a 3 credit course which has a 60-day term, would have a completion percentage of 33.3% and be due to a refund of 50% of tuition paid for the course.

Before 10% completion of course: 90% Refund
Between 10%-25% completion of course: 75% Refund
Between 25%-60% completion of course: 50% Refund
After 60% completion of the course: No Refund

Example: A student enrolled for 20 days in a 3 credit course which has a 60-day term, would have a completion percentage of 33.3% and be due to a refund of 50% of tuition paid for the course.
